An important message about safety, security and threats at La Porte ISD

We received a report Wednesday that a student at James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus, in view of witnesses, allegedly made a threat against a teacher while acting as if shooting an imaginary shotgun. The La Porte Police Department was immediately contacted, and the student has been arrested. Please know that safety and security are of foremost importance at La Porte ISD. We take all threats very seriously -- including those that might be in jest. We are asking all parents: Please, talk to your children: action will be taken against anyone who makes threats of any kind, shape or form.

Thoughts and prayers for Santa Fe ISD

Our hearts are heavy for everyone affected by the horrific tragedy in Santa Fe ISD, and they will remain in our thoughts and prayers. Though the safety of our students and staff is always at the forefront of our minds, La Porte ISD engaged a heightened sense of awareness as events began to unfold in Galveston County early Friday. We will continue in that mode with hopes of easing any safety, social and emotional concerns of our community. We look forward to seeing everyone next week and invite you to call on us with any questions or concerns.
