La Porte ISD Distinguished Alumni, Citizen to be honored Oct. 26

La Porte Independent School District on October 26 will honor four former students during the inaugural Distinguished Alumni & Distinguished Citizen ceremony and luncheon. The district will honor Kerron Clement, Gene Washington and Russell Ybarra as its 2018 Distinguished Alumni class. Jesse T. Garcia will be honored posthumously as the 2018 Distinguished Citizen.

Hearing and Vision Screening- September 24th and 25th

Vision and Hearing screenings will be conducted during the school day on September 24th and 25th. Please be sure that your student brings his or her glasses or contacts on these days for this screening. If your student does not pass either of these screenings, you will receive a letter in the mail. Please contact the school nurse for any questions or concerns.

A message from Superintendent Lloyd W. Graham regarding accountability ratings

As the Texas Education Agency released accountability ratings for schools and districts across the state, many Houston /Gulf Coast area schools received a “not rated” label due to Hurricane Harvey’s impact. Despite the fact that almost 500 homes in La Porte ISD were significantly damaged or destroyed as a result of the storm, La Porte ISD was not eligible to receive this waiver. (more...)
