Secondary summer school information

6th -8th Grade

 

6th – 8th Grade Credit/Attendance Recovery:

Who:  6th through 8th Grade students who have failed two or more core content subjects for the year or who have been notified that attendance fails to comply with the State Compensatory Attendance Law.

When:  June 3 – 24 (Monday – Thursday); 8:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Where:  La Porte Junior High School

Fee:  $70.00

Transportation:  Provided

Meals:  Grab/Go Breakfast; Tray Lunch

 

Note:  Parent will be notified by the campus counselor or administration if student is required to attend summer school.

 

8th Grade Student Success Initiative for Math and/or Reading - Mandatory:

Who:  8th Grader who has failed the 3rd administration of either the 8th STAAR Math and/or STAAR Reading Assessment.  Because results are not received from the May 13-14th second administration of the assessment, the student should plan on attending Summer School.  The third administration of the 8th Grade Reading and/or Math Assessment will be administered the last week of June.

When:  June 3 – 24 (Monday – Thursday); 8:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Where:  La Porte Junior High School

Fee:  No Charge

Transportation:  Provided

Meals:  Grab/Go Breakfast; Tray Lunch

Assessment Calendar:  8th Grade STAAR Math to be administered on June 25, 2019 at La Porte Junior High School; 8th Grade STAAR Reading to be administered on June 26, 2019 at La Porte Junior High School

 

Note:  Parent will be notified by the campus counselor or administration if student is required to attend summer school.  A Grade Placement Meeting will be schedule.

 

9th – 12th Grade – La Porte High School and The Academy at Viola DeWalt High School

9th – 12th Grade Credit/Attendance Recovery:

Who:  9th through 12th Grade students who have failed a core content subjects for the semester or who have been notified that attendance fails to comply with the State Compensatory Attendance Law.

When:  Session 1:  June 3 – 13 (Monday – Thursday); 9:00 – 1:40 p.m.

              Session 2:  June 17 – 27 (Monday – Thursday); 9:00 – 1:40 p.m.

Where:  La Porte High School

Fee:  $140.00      Non Free/Reduced lunch                              $70.00    Free / Reduced Lunch

Transportation:  Provided

Meals:  Grab/Go Lunch

STAAR End of Course Exam Failures - Mandatory:

Who:  High School student who has failed one or more of the 5 mandatory STAAR End of Course Assessments (English I, English II, Algebra, Biology and/or U. S. History).  Because results are not received from the May 6th – 10thadministration of the assessments until May 29, 2019, the student should plan on attending Summer School if they feel that they performed unsuccessfully.  The retest of the STAAR End of Course Assessments (English I, English II, Algebra, Biology and/or  U. S. History) will be administered the last week of June.

When:  June 3 – 20 (Monday – Thursday); 9 a.m. – 1:40 p.m.

Where:  La Porte  High School

Fee:  No Charge

Transportation:  Provided

Meals:  Provided (Students will be provided time to eat)

Assessment Calendar:  STAAR EOC English I – June 24; STAAR EOC Algebra – June 25; STAAR EOC English II – June 26; STAAR EOC Biology – June 27; STAAR EOC U. S. History – June 27 to be administered at La Porte High School
