Six La Porte ISD students win top honors at Rodeo Art competition

The winners’ artwork will be on display at NRG Center throughout the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and other Rodeo Art submissions will be on display at the students’ respective campuses. La Porte High School artwork will be on display at the Administration Building.
 
Joanna Munoz, senior at La Porte High School, captured High School Best of Show with her entry, Souala (Time of the Winter Solstice) Wichahpi (Star). Winning a gold medal in the high school division was Jhoana Lopez, a La Porte High Schoool junior, for “Saddle Up.” They are both students of Christina Todaro.

In the junior high division, Angie Morales, eighth-grader at La Porte Junior High, won Best of Show for “Little Sister Feeds Chicks.” She is the student of Amanda Mattox. Angelique Guillen, an eighth-grader at Lomax Junior High, won a gold medal for “Providence.” She is the student of Yaravi Barrasa.
 
Tyler Harmon, fifth-grader at College Park Elementary, won Best of Show in the elementary category for “Curious Majestics.” Tyler is the student of Jennifer Barker and Melanie Cano. Dylan Dostalik, fifth-grader at La Porte Elementary School, earned a gold medal for “Sunset Cactus.” Dylan is the student of Janie Reyes and Shannon Fanning.
